RISE describes who we are at Manhattan and how we approach everything we do:
Academics, Athletics, Activities, Friendships, Homework, and Citizenship.
We believe that children need to be actively taught how to interact effectively with others just like they need to be taught to read, write, and do math. Therefore, it is within this context that we talk about our expectations of ourselves and others. We praise students for demonstrating RISE and we re-teach why and how to appropriately demonstrate RISE when students don't know or forget. RISE is an acronym.
We are the Manhattan Phoenix and a phoenix rises. Each letter means:
R = Respect
I = Individual responsibility
S = Safety
E = Excellence
